Florida State Fair 4-H Livestock Judging

February 10, 2018
FSF, Tampa

Registration form, due January 29

The Florida State Fair will host a 4-H Livestock Judging Contest on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Lykes indoor arena. Check in will begin at 8:00 a.m., the contest begins at 9:00 a.m., and awards will be announced in the arena at 4:00 p.m. Contest rules and a list of classes may be found in the FSF Youth Livestock Catalog. In addition to placing classes of cattle, hogs, goats, and sheep, the contest will include evaluation of feeder cattle (frame and muscle score). Participants will be asked one set of questions from one of the classes.

Each county may enter one team comprised of up to four youth of any age (8-18). Juniors, Intermediates, and Seniors will compete equally and be eligible for the same overall individual and team awards.

Register by completing and returning this form by January 29. Forms must be signed by the County Agent (Adobe e-signature is fine) and returned by mail to the contact listed on the form. There is a $15 per team entry fee due with the form.

Teams must enter the fairgrounds through the Martin Luther King Blvd. entrance and parking is free. All 4-H members presenting official 4-H membership cards will be admitted free. The 4-H leader will also be admitted free when accompanying a group of three or more youth. This is typically a very busy day at the fair. Plan your travel to arrive at the fairgrounds well ahead of check-in so you have time to find parking and get through the gates. Try to reach the indoor arena between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. so everyone will have a minute to relax, check in at registration, and get the members situated in their groups. Remember that this is also the qualifier for the Senior FFA State Contest so it will be very crowded.
